Aguadulce: Urban Beach, Coastal Paths and Local Heritage

Aguadulce brings together the coast, paths, marina and local heritage on different scales. Its coastal character is defined by Playa de Aguadulce: it is a 1,900-meter-long urban beach with a promenade along its entire length.

Beach and Promenade

The Paseo Marítimo de Aguadulce is a 2-kilometer route for walking, hiking and cycling. It runs continuously along the beach and connects the marina with the town's main beach. On clear days, it offers views of Almería Bay and the coast of Roquetas de Mar. For orientation by the water, this route provides a continuous connection between the marina and the main beach. The route gives a walking or cycling loop a defined framework.

Other Paths and Viewpoints

The Puerta Verde de Roquetas de Mar offers a different focus. It is a route for non-motorized traffic that connects Roquetas de Mar with the Urbanización de Aguadulce via the Cañada Real de la Costa. It is 1.91 kilometers long and intended for cyclists, hikers, horse riders and livestock. From the Puerta Verde de Roquetas de Mar viewpoint, the tips of the seagrass meadows that form the Posidonia Reef Natural Monument can be seen.

In addition to the coastal paths, Andalusia has a completed section of a long-distance hiking trail from Aguadulce to Adra in the province of Almería. For planning stages, this route supplements the local coastal stretches with a connection between Aguadulce and Adra.

Marina, Procession and Festivities

The Puerto Deportivo Aguadulce offers a wide range of water sports activities, as well as a large selection of restaurants. The maritime and land procession of the Virgen del Carmen starts from this marina. It goes to the Puerto Deportivo de Roquetas de Mar and returns to its starting point. The combination of water sports and restaurants makes the marina a place where activity on the water and a meal can be enjoyed side by side.

Aguadulce's patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen take place in the first half of July, specifically from July 13 to July 16. The program of the 2026 festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen in Aguadulce included workshops and beach sports such as beach soccer, beach tennis and beach volleyball.

Local Heritage and Park

Local heritage is also evident in specific places. The Fuente de Aguadulce is a local ethnological heritage element associated with the spring that gave Aguadulce its name. In the center of Aguadulce lies the Parque Público Municipal Andrés Segovia, a public park with two children's areas and a walking path across its approximately two-hectare grounds.
