Origins and townscape

Costacabana was established in the 1970s as a tourism development project initiated by Karl Josef Hanflend and attracted British and German investors. Many streets in Costacabana still bear their original English names. Most houses in Costacabana have only one storey.

The townscape therefore includes both the chronological context of its foundation and specific traces of this development. The English street names are still present in today's streetscape, while the single-storey construction determines the architectural character of most houses.
