La Paz: Culture, Festivals and the Encina de La Paz
Culture
On August 7, 2024, the restored SantÃsimo Cristo de la Paz returned to its church in the La Paz district. The return was accompanied by a solemn torchlight procession. The next ecclesiastical date has also been set precisely: on Lunes Santo, March 30, 2026, the procession of the Hermandad del Cristo de la Paz y Virgen de los Dolores will start in La Paz at 8:00 p.m. Cristo de la Paz in La Paz belongs to the parish association of La Carlota.
The town's history began at the end of 1839 with a settlement called Rabadanes. In a later phase, before the present-day name La Paz, the place was known as Las Provincias. Rabadanes and Las Provincias are therefore among the historical names associated with the town's development.
Festivals
La Paz is one of the meeting points for the Fiesta de la Candelaria in La Carlota. The festival includes tastings of Sopaipas and chocolate. La Paz's connection to the event thus includes a festival date in La Carlota and the two expressly named culinary components, Sopaipas and chocolate.
