Verdiales and Living Local History

Los Romanes is closely associated with the Verdiales, a rural musical tradition. In this tradition, pandas made up of festival participants sing fandangos, accompanied by lutes, guitars and violins. Olive Oil and Planned Festival Events

The history of Aceites Los Romanes dates back to 1964. At that time, 80 farmers joined together as the Hermandad Sindical de Labradores y Ganaderos and founded the present-day Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza Santa Teresa de Jesús. At the “II Día del Molinero” in Los Romanes, a guided olive oil tasting was planned, for which advance registration was required. A visit to the Cooperativa Santa Teresa de Jesús was also planned, during which visitors could learn about the olive oil production process.

The “II Día del Molinero” also included planned stalls offering regional food and local handicrafts. Another planned event example was the XIV Festival de Verdiales in Los Romanes, featuring a pasacalles, a pregón and several music groups.
