Routes and Landscape

Peligros lies on the foothills of the Sierras de Alfacar and Víznar in the northern Vega de Granada; there, dryland is more extensive than irrigated land. This location describes a landscape area in which paths from the town center lead both into the immediate surroundings and to prominent viewpoints in the wider area.

The signposted Cuevas Altas route begins in the town center of Peligros. It can be used on foot or by bicycle. At 7.55 kilometers long, Cuevas Altas is moderately difficult. The route is designed to take approximately two hours. It offers views of Güevéjar, the Sierra Nevada, Sierra Elvira and the Peñón de la Mata. The route description thus connects the starting point in the town with four individually named landscape and place references that become visible along the walking experience.

The Cueva del Álamo route is easy and 3.72 kilometers long. It is designed to take approximately 55 minutes. It crosses the Barranco de la Fuente and returns to the town center of Peligros along the Camino de la Cueva del Álamo. The route description therefore specifies not only its length and duration, but also the ravine and the named return path that ends back in the town.

Culture

The Church of San Ildefonso de Peligros has stained-glass windows depicting the four Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The stained-glass ensemble of the Iglesia de San Ildefonso de Peligros consists of four works. These works depict the Tetramorph. A fifth stained-glass window is located in the baptistery of the Iglesia de San Ildefonso de Peligros. It depicts the Holy Spirit. Thus, the church interior is described as containing both the four individually named Evangelists and the additional window in the baptistery as independent components of the stained-glass ensemble.

The Casa Árabe de Peligros is a contemporary building in the neo-Islamic style of the late 19th century. It imitates a kind of small palace-like fortification. The Casa Árabe was built above the presumed medieval gate of Granada. Its description therefore combines the building's present-day appearance, the neo-Islamic style and its connection to a medieval entrance to Granada.

Festivities

The Fiestas de Verano last five days. Their program includes festive, sporting and cultural events. These events are for all age groups. The festival days thus combine several types of events within a clearly defined schedule.

Since 2024, the religious Fiesta de las Mozuelas has been supplemented by theatrical performances. The Fiesta de las Mozuelas commemorates the looting of the church of Peligros in the 19th century. The looting was carried out by Napoleon's troops, who came from Granada. The festival's present-day focus thus creates a connection between religious tradition, theater and a specific historical event.

Metropolitan bus line 111 connected Granada, Asegra, La Joya and Peligros. Metropolitan bus line 111L connected Peligros, Albolote and Maracena. It provided a morning connection for the three municipalities. The two lines described thus place Peligros both in relation to Granada and in connection with Asegra, La Joya, Albolote and Maracena.
