Culture

In the Barrio Bajo of Pinos del Valle stands the Iglesia de la Inmaculada, a church whose construction took place between 1561 and 1566. Its floor plan has the shape of a Latin cross, while the building is covered by a barrel vault. Its furnishings include a tabernacle in the Neoclassical style, as well as polychrome carvings from the schools of Mena and Martínez Montañés. Pinos del Valle is also home to the Iglesia de la Concepción, which is designated as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category. This designation was made by Decree 16/2004 of 27 January 2004.

Traditions

The Fiestas de San Roque are celebrated in Pinos del Valle on 16 August in honor of the town's patron saint, San Roque. In each of the two districts, Barrio Alto and Barrio Bajo, the well-known Revoloteo de la Bandera is part of this festival. Since the 1920s, several generations of women in Pinos del Valle have embroidered mantillas and veils made of bobbinet tulle at home. Traditional tulle embroidery uses silk threads on black or white tulle. Motifs include leaves, lace, and openwork designs.
