Culture
The Santo Rostro and the Virgen de la Antigua are kept in the main chapel of the Catedral de la Asunción. The Catedral de la Asunción is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture and a masterpiece by Andrés de Vandelvira.
The Castillo de Santa Catalina has a fortified enclosure defended by six towers. A visit to the Castillo de Santa Catalina provides an opportunity to learn about the history of the city of Jaén from its origins to the present day, as well as its connection with the surrounding area. Archaeological remains of an Iberian oppidum have been preserved on the slope below the Castillo de Santa Catalina.
The Baños Árabes were built in the 11th century and cover 450 square metres. A visit to the Baños Árabes is complemented by the Museo de Arte Naïf and the Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares. The Museo Íbero de Jaén is considered unique worldwide in its field. The Museo de Jaén includes an archaeological department with a significant collection from the Iberian period, as well as a fine arts department.
The interpretation centre of the Oppidum de Puente Tablas explains life in an Iberian city over the course of the different seasons. At the Oppidum de Puente Tablas, next to the Puerta del Sol, there is a sanctuary dedicated to a female deity. Another place to visit is Las Infantas.

The PR-A 126 and PR-A 127 hiking trails are signposted in the Parque Periurbano del Neveral and at the Castillo de Santa Catalina.
The Parque Periurbano del Neveral and the area around the Castillo de Santa Catalina consist mostly of a forest of Pinus halepensis and rocky areas. The Via Ferrata de Fuente de la Peña enables climbers to ascend between rock walls and is equipped with footholds, bridges, and safety cables; along the way, it offers views of the city of Jaén and the sea of olive trees.
