La Carrasca: Festivals, Castles and Mountains

Active Routes

La Carrasca is the starting point of the 11.6 km Piedras Cobo–Minas–Alamillo hiking route, which leads uphill along agricultural tracks to the Las Piedras Cobo archaeological site. Its length is 11.6 km.

The long Sierra Sur de Jaén road cycling route runs from Martos through La Carrasca to Las Casillas. On the section from La Carrasca to Las Casillas, you can see the Víboras Reservoir and Castillo del Víboras.

Festivals and Community

The Fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Rosario take place in La Carrasca in August. They combine social and religious events.

The 2026 festival programme in honour of the Virgen del Rosario in La Carrasca included a floral offering. It also included a children's fancy-dress competition and a public dance event.

The same festival programme included the XXV Concurso Gastronómico and the distribution of paella.

The traditional Fiestas de la Santa Cruz in La Carrasca were a three-day celebration in 2026. They included music, leisure activities, gastronomy and religious events.

The programme for the 2026 Fiestas de la Santa Cruz included a floral offering. Children's competitions and public dance events were also part of the programme. A mass and a procession in honour of the Santa Cruz were also included.

The 2026 Fiestas de la Santa Cruz included a traditional communal meal with cocido.

The two festival series have different focuses in terms of timing: the Fiestas of the Virgen del Rosario are celebrated in August, while the Fiestas de la Santa Cruz lasted three days in 2026. The programmes feature floral offerings and dance events alongside gastronomic, musical and religious elements of public festival life.
