Culture between the Hospital, El Pósito and Cástulo

Between urban history and archaeological heritage, Linares reveals several distinct historical periods. The crypt of the Hospital de San José y San Raimundo in Linares houses a marble and bronze mausoleum by Lorenzo Collault Valera, where the mortal remains of the Marquises of Linares rest. The Hospital de San José y San Raimundo in Linares is a Neo-Gothic building constructed between 1904 and 1917.

El Pósito is a recently renovated 18th-century building and serves as a tourist and exhibition space in Linares. It presents, in chronological order, a collection donated by the artist, including his discography, awards, posters, films, costumes, graphic documents and memorabilia. The Museo Arqueológico Monográfico de Cástulo is located in a representative 16th-century Renaissance and aristocratic building that belonged to the Dávalos Biedma family, who lived in Linares. In six rooms, the museum presents the development of Cástulo from the Paleolithic period until its gradual abandonment after the Christian conquest. When viewing the collection, therefore, both the history of the archaeological site and the history of the building form part of the visit.
