Townscape and Culture
In the centre of Benarrabá, the Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación occupies a central position. The irregular, steep and narrow streets of the town centre are reminiscent of Muslim urban planning.
The Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is a Baroque-Classical church from the 18th century. It was reconstructed in the 19th century.
Benarrabá is also home to the Ermita del Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz. It is a monument of lesser importance from the 18th century.
The Feria patronal de San Miguel takes place annually over four days. The patron saint's festival is celebrated in honour of the Archangel Michael and includes cultural activities as well as evening verbenas.
The town centre therefore brings together various historical testimonies: a church with Baroque-Classical design and a later reconstruction, another chapel from the 18th century, and an annual patron saint's festival. The four days of festivities combine cultural activities with evening verbenas.
Hiking
The SL-A 215 Llanos del Rey circular hiking trail is a route of approximately 7.9 kilometres on foot. Its estimated walking time is three hours.
The trail runs through La Loma northeast of Benarrabá. La Loma is separated from the town by the Arroyo del Infiernillo.
Hikers must cross the Arroyo del Infiernillo on both the outward and return journeys.
The SL-A 175 Concoste La Portá hiking trail continues towards the Área Recreativa de La Mohea.
For understanding the SL-A 215, both the approximate route length and the estimated walking time are therefore recorded. In addition, there is the specific route connection between Benarrabá, La Loma and the Arroyo del Infiernillo: the watercourse forms part of the described route on both sections. The SL-A 175 complements this trail network with its direction towards the Área Recreativa de La Mohea.
