Between Fortress History and Contemporary Art

Rincón De La Victoria presents its history through a coastal defense structure dating from 1766, Roman archaeology, a cave of marine origin and contemporary cultural events. Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana was built in 1766 by order of King Carlos III as a coastal defense structure against pirates. Today, it serves as an art space where cultural activities and art exhibitions are regularly held. Its historical scope therefore ranges from 18th-century construction history to a regular contemporary cultural program.

Benagalbón and Roman Remains

The Museo de Artes Populares in Benagalbón preserves local roots and traditions. Among other things, it displays a traditional farmhouse with a living room, kitchen and bedroom, as well as typical agricultural equipment and work utensils from the region. The farmhouse presents the living room, kitchen and bedroom as separate areas; the equipment and utensils complement this insight into the working world of the past.

The Roman archaeological site of Torre de Benagalbón comprises a thermal complex with bathing rooms such as the frigidarium, caldarium and tepidarium, as well as the remains of a garum factory. The Roman villa at the Torre de Benagalbón site has thirteen mosaics. Frigidarium, caldarium and tepidarium designate the bathing rooms of the thermal complex, while the garum factory provides evidence of another Roman use at the site.

Cueva del Tesoro and Archaeological Park

The galleries of Cueva del Tesoro contain remains from the Paleolithic and Bronze Age, as well as examples of prehistoric rock art. Cueva del Tesoro is one of only three known caves of marine origin in the world. For visits to Cueva del Tesoro, advance reservations are required for safety reasons. The reservation is therefore part of the specific preparation for a cave visit.

The Parque Arqueológico del Mediterráneo covers 90,000 square meters. It features paths bounded by natural rock formations for peaceful walks, as well as a reproduction of walls with rock paintings inspired by finds in Cueva del Tesoro. The paths follow natural rock boundaries, while the reproduction incorporates prehistoric motifs from the cave.

Villa Antiopa conveys history using traditional and technologically advanced museographic methods through sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. The five senses named are explicitly used as means of access, so the presentation is not limited to sight.

Transport, Water Sports and Fiesta

The Mediterranean motorway A-7/E-15 runs through the municipality of Rincón De La Victoria and allows a direct journey to Málaga International Airport in 15 minutes. Rincón de la Victoria also offers opportunities for water sports. For travel to the area, this means that, alongside the coastal town, the specific connection via the A-7/E-15 is also identified.

Every September, the Fiesta del Boquerón Victoriano takes place in Rincón de la Victoria. It combines traditional elements with fine dining and holds the designation Fiesta de Interés Turístico Provincial. The September date gives the festival a fixed place in the annual calendar, while the designation identifies its tourism status.
