Between Moorish Character and Whitewashed Streets

Ítrabo preserves a fully Moorish old-town layout. The historic centre of Ítrabo features whitewashed houses and narrow streets. Sources, Buildings and Historical Traces

The Lavadero de la Carmeta preserves its original typological character. The old spring includes a public washhouse that continues to serve as a meeting place for local residents, as well as wash basins arranged lengthwise and supplied by a water channel. The Lavadero is located on Calle Jose Martin Recuerda. North of Ítrabo, away from the Carretera La Era, stands the Ermita de Nuestra Señora Virgen de la Salud; references to it date back to the mid-18th century. East of the town, on the Cuesta Rio, is the Molino de Harina y Aceite, a building of Moorish-Mudéjar type with two rooms, each with its own entrance. In addition, the temple in Ítrabo was built in the Neoclassical style between the 16th and 17th centuries.

Fiesta del Vino and Communal Dining

At the Fiesta del Vino in Ítrabo, small-scale winegrowers compete for the best must of the year. After the competition, a communal meal is held in the Plaza de Andalucía, open to everyone interested. The festival thus combines a clearly defined competition with an open gathering in the central square. Hiking Trails with Gardens, Farmland and Views

The Ítrabo–La Guindalera hiking trail passes family gardens and subtropical farmland and offers views of the Barranco del Río Nacimiento. For planning a day of hiking, the Nacimiento río Ítrabo–Picacho Bodíjaras route can also be clearly classified: it is a signposted 9-kilometre circular trail that runs mainly along unpaved paths. The distance and trail surface give the route a clearly defined character without requiring additional information about duration or difficulty.

The León Africano route begins in Ítrabo. The town’s natural attractions also include the spring and waterfall of Paraíso, which form part of Ítrabo’s natural heritage.
