In the immediate vicinity of Cijuela lies Hoja de la Torre. Hoja de la Torre is an Arab tower. The tower is designated as a monument and is located in the area known as Pago de la Hoja de la Torre. A wall from the original Hoja de la Torre has been preserved. Hoja de la Torre is also a destination for the pilgrimages held in Cijuela.

Cijuela is located in Andalusia, an autonomous community in southern Spain. Andalusia comprises eight provinces. Festivals and Events

In September, Cijuela celebrates the patron saint's festival in honour of Our Father Jesus Nazareno. In October, Cijuela celebrates the patron saint's festival in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary. In November, Cijuela hosts a speed painting competition. Painters from different parts of Spain take part in this competition.

Cijuela's youth music band competition was first held in 2011. It has taken place every year since that first edition. Cijuela's Julio Cultural programme includes theatre performances. Traditional slaughter festivals are held in Cijuela in December and January. On 2 February, Cijuela celebrates the Candelaria, or Festival of Fire. In summer, Cijuela offers swimming lessons.

The events calendar therefore includes religious festivals, competitions, theatre and seasonal activities. The patron saint's festivals are held in September and October, while the speed painting competition takes place in November and the traditional slaughter festivals in December and January.

An ornithological route can be followed in the south of the municipality of Cijuela. Cijuela has fertile fruit and vegetable-growing land. The Genil River irrigates these areas. There is a lake in Cijuela's town park. Its water is rich in minerals. These minerals include iron.
