Hiking
The Camino de los Charcones is a walking trail running parallel to the source of the RÃo Guadalete and connecting Grazalema with the Puerto del Boyar. Its route follows a former livestock trail that is still regularly used by residents of Grazalema today.
The trail therefore extends from Grazalema to the Puerto del Boyar. At the same time, the route’s former function as a livestock trail remains recognisable, while its present-day use by local residents is expressly documented.
The Mirador de los Peñascos offers 360-degree views of the Peñón Grande and the Valle del Guadalete. The Ruta hasta la Ermita del Santo is an approximately 30-minute walk along a path. At its destination, visitors can see an image of the Sacred Heart and panoramic views of the town of Grazalema.
The medieval Calzada Medieval is an extension of a two-thousand-year-old road that runs through the Manga de Villaluenga.
Culture
The Casco antiguo de Grazalema is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the Conjunto Histórico category. The historic centre preserves traditional architecture with narrow cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, tiled roofs with two sloping sides and squares.
The townscape is characterised by narrow cobbled streets alongside whitewashed houses and tiled roofs with two sloping sides. Squares complement this preserved architecture within the protected historic centre.
The Iglesia de la Aurora was built between 1769 and 1800 with donations, tithes and first fruits from the town. The church has a rectangular floor plan, a dome with eight star-shaped skylights and a circular choir gallery.
Its construction period therefore falls between 1769 and 1800. In addition to the rectangular floor plan, the dome with its eight star-shaped skylights and the circular choir gallery define the specified interior and architectural forms.
History
The Museo Textil Grazalema is housed in a 19th-century factory building. Historical machines illustrate the traditional blanket-making process, from washing the raw wool through to the finishing stage.
The exhibition thus combines the site of the former production with the sequence of the individual stages of work. The traditional blanket-making process, from washing the raw wool through to the finishing stage, can be followed using historical machines.
