Gardens and Rural Heritage

The Rutas de las Huertas lead through a total of 30 gardens in Aguadulce. Along these routes, visitors can tour the cultivated gardens and observe the work of local gardeners directly on site. Huerta Las Almenas is one of Aguadulce’s characteristic gardens and is part of the Rutas de las Huertas. Its Neo-Mudéjar façade is crowned with battlements.

The Centro de Interpretación Las Huertas presents Aguadulce’s traditional horticultural heritage. In an interactive space, visitors can learn about the gardens along the route.

History and Architectural Heritage

Casa Pepe Hara housed Aguadulce’s first farmers’ casino. Casa Pepe Hara was built in 1930. Its modernist exterior is combined with a Seville-influenced interior.

Bronze Age socketed axes were found on Cerro Real in Aguadulce. Archaeological finds in Aguadulce point to a significant Roman villa.

The Puente de Piedra is a Renaissance bridge with five arches and dates from 1596. Historically, it connected the areas of Estepa and Osuna.

The Iglesia de San Bartolomé was initially built as a single-nave church in the 17th century. After several renovations, the church has three naves. The Iglesia de San Bartolomé houses a valuable 17th-century oil painting. It also houses goldsmith’s work from the 18th century.

The Jardín de Dolores is located directly behind the parish church. On Calle San Bartolomé, visitors can admire typical whitewashed Andalusian houses.

Walks and Route

Visitors can walk through the surrounding countryside and along the Río Blanco. There is a picnic area beside the Río Blanco in the vicinity of the Puente de Piedra.

The third stage of the Camino de Santiago from Antequera reaches Aguadulce via the Camino de Roya and Los Pascuales, Cañada de Écija, El Bujeo and Cerro Real.

Cuisine and Festivities

Aguadulce’s cuisine, which is based on vegetables from the local gardens, includes dishes such as Cazuela de habas. This cuisine also includes dishes such as stuffed artichokes.

The Fiesta Patronal de San Bartolomé is celebrated on 24 August. Traditional fireworks are part of the festivities. The Fiesta Patronal de San Bartolomé takes place at the same time as the Feria de Aguadulce.

Getting There

The nearest railway station is Osuna; from there, buses and taxis connect to Aguadulce.

From Seville, Aguadulce can be reached by car via the A-92 motorway and a direct exit located about 100 km away.

Other places include Sanlúcar La Mayor, San José De La Rinconada, Almadén De La Plata, Cazalla De La Sierra, Espartinas, Villanueva Del Río Y Minas, Cerro de Hierro and Pruna.
