Las Cañadillas: Trails, Landscape and the Copper Age
A route operated by the Provincial Government of Seville continues via El Castillo de las Guardas to the settlement of Las Cañadillas.
Hiking and Landscape
The Las Cañadillas Trail requires two crossings of the RÃo Guadiamar. After leaving Las Cañadillas, the trail continues parallel to the Arroyo de Las Cañadillas, and Las Cañadillas is the highest point of the Las Cañadillas Trail.
Along the Ruta de Las Cañadillas, hikers can expect landscapes with dehesas, streams and the Guadiamar. The route connects different landscape features: after crossing the river, it follows the stream, while the settlement also marks the highest point of the trail.
Access to Las Cañadillas is via a 1 km-long turn-off branching off from the El Castillo de las Guardas–Aznalcóllar road (SE-530).
If you are planning to use the local hiking trail, please note the temporary closure of the 1.39 km-long Las Cañadillas–Arroyo de la Plata section. The closure therefore affects a clearly designated stretch between the settlement and the Arroyo de la Plata, while the other information describes the route of the trail and its access.
Culture and Local Features
The Dolmen de la Lapa del Moro is a megalith from the Copper Age. Its burial mound has a diameter of 20 metres and is 2.50 metres high. The historical classification and the measurements refer to the same structure: the megalith and its clearly described burial mound.
If you are planning a visit to the dolmen, please note that it is located on private property and is currently not open to visitors. Thus, the dolmen remains described as a cultural and historical feature of the area, without implying that a present-day visit on site is possible.
The Fuente de la Aldea de Las Cañadillas spring is located in the settlement of Las Cañadillas.
