Culture and History

Powerful binoculars are available on the rooftop terrace of the Torre del Agua, allowing visitors to observe the landscape between La Campiña and the Marisma.

The guided vertical tour of the Torre del Agua uses five floors to showcase the history and culture of Los Palacios y Villafranca, as well as its landscapes, emblematic buildings, and protected natural areas.

The Torre del Agua is a 30-metre-high, fully accessible observation tower that can be visited as part of a guided tour by prior appointment. The complete tour of the Torre del Agua is free of charge, requires a reservation, and lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The “Pueblo Lejano” Literary Route connects the town hall with the Parroquia de Santa María la Blanca, as well as the Capilla de la Aurora and Capilla de San Sebastián chapels, and also passes by historic or noteworthy places in Los Palacios y Villafranca.

The Capilla de San Sebastián was built at the beginning of the 16th century. It was formerly the church of Villafranca de las Marismas and houses a Baroque depiction of San Miguel Arcángel, attributed to Pedro Roldán.

The Ruta del Arroz is a route through twelve towns that combines nature, cultural heritage, and gastronomy and also passes through Los Palacios y Villafranca.

Nature and Landscape

Parque de las Marismas is a 90,000 m² green area for recreation and leisure, with lawns, trees, plants, and walking paths.

Humedal de Cerro de las Cigüeñas is an artificial, permanently water-filled wetland of ecological interest in Los Palacios y Villafranca.

Humedal el Pantano is a fluvio-littoral wetland with high marsh and lucios on the Atlantic Betic coast; it is alluvial, semi-permanent, and fed epigenically.

Experiences

On a local route, visitors can learn about the cultivation process of the Tomate de Los Palacios and taste it in local recipes.

The Los Palacios y Villafranca–Utrera horse-riding route includes a 16-kilometre section through La Campiña, fields, rural roads, ranches, cortijos, haciendas, and cattle tracks.

The Feria de Los Palacios y Villafranca includes Doma Campera competitions, horse and mule races with ribbons, circular mule races, a cucaña, a mounted parade, and carriage-driving demonstrations.

Geographical Location

From Seville, Los Palacios y Villafranca can be reached by car via the A-4/N-IV or via the AP-4, exit 23.

Los Palacios y Villafranca has no railway station, but it can be reached from Seville by bus route M-134.
