Nature and Pilgrimage

In the La Madrona natural landscape, three kilometres from Burguillos, stands the Ermita de Nuestra Señora Virgen del Rosario Coronada, the patron saint of the municipality. The interior of the Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Rosario is dominated by a painting of Our Lady of the Rosary, created by Rafael Rodríguez Hernández in 1991. The chapel consists of a single nave with a gabled roof; its presbytery projects as a semicircular apse and has two oculi on the sides.

The traditional Romería in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary takes place every year at the chapel on the Sunday after the first Friday in October. The celebrations in honour of the Virgen del Rosario include a novena that begins ten days before the first Friday in October and ends on the preceding Wednesday with a Besamanos ceremony in the parish church.

Routes and Landscape

The Villa de Burguillos mountain-biking tour begins at the Plaza de la Constitución in Burguillos and passes through the town centre, various local roads and the Sierra. Its total length is 50 kilometres, of which 20 kilometres are competitive.

The fourth stage of the Camino Benedictino connects Burguillos and Castilblanco de los Arroyos via a livestock trail through the Montes de La Madroña and the Cerro del Moro. This stage is not signposted and can be confusing because of numerous private turn-offs.

In the Parque Periurbano, in the higher-lying area of the municipality, there is a natural area surrounded by pine trees, offering panoramic views of Burguillos. A recreational area in Burguillos has picnic areas and barbecue facilities for use by residents and visitors.
