Culture and History

The Dolmen del Toril is located in El Garrobo and is a megalithic funerary monument. It dates from the Chalcolithic period; its monument number is 11031.

The Túmulo del Cerro Cabeza del Moro is also a megalithic funerary monument from the Chalcolithic period in El Garrobo. This monument bears the monument number 11032.

The two monuments therefore belong to the different megalithic funerary monuments in the municipal area and are each registered with their own monument number.

The Iglesia Parroquial de la Concepción is a Mudéjar parish church. It houses the statue of the Virgen de la Estrella. The Virgen de la Estrella is the patron saint of El Garrobo.

The church has a Baroque altarpiece. The steps of its presbytery are faced with tiles from Cuenca. These tiles date from the 16th century.

The Romería de la Virgen de la Estrella is a ritual tradition associated with El Garrobo.

Springs and Townscape

The Fuente de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella was built in 1928. It is located on the northeastern edge of the town centre of El Garrobo, on the old road to Venta El Alto.

The washing facilities at the Fuente de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella are located about 25 metres from the spring. They comprise 16 washing places with granite slabs.

The Fuente Abades is located about 3 km northwest of El Garrobo. It is situated on the N-433 towards Aracena.

Hiking and Trails

The Sendero de los Camellos begins in El Garrobo. It follows the Colada de los Camellos to the Rivera del Guadiamar.

Stage 2 of the Camino Benedictino runs via the SE-535 to El Garrobo. It then continues towards Gerena.

A hiking trail from El Garrobo leads to Las Pajanosas. Another hiking trail from El Garrobo is the Camino de Guillena.

Several named trail connections are therefore documented for El Garrobo: the Sendero de los Camellos extends to the Rivera del Guadiamar, the Camino Benedictino continues towards Gerena, and further trails lead to Las Pajanosas and to the Camino de Guillena.

Arrival and Transport

El Garrobo can be reached by car from Seville. The route follows the A-66 to exit 782. It then continues via the N-630 and the N-433.

El Garrobo has no railway station. A bus connection is available from the Plaza de Armas bus station.

For the journey, both a road connection from Seville and a bus connection from the Plaza de Armas bus station are therefore mentioned; there is no railway station in El Garrobo.
