El Madroño: Río Tinto, Hiking Trails and Chapels
The Camino de los Camellos is a former livestock droving route. Its course connects El Castillo de las Guardas, Aznalcóllar and El Madroño.
Trails
On the Ruta de los Mineros, the access route to the Río Tinto leads downhill. The descent is 1.5 kilometres long and passes through a landscape with yellow-discoloured rocks. The route offers views of El Madroño and the mining area around Nerva.
The Sendero de las Cuatro Aldeas runs mostly through dehesa landscapes. In some sections, it passes through eucalyptus stands. Other stretches lie in low scrubland with many rockroses. The trail connects Juan Gallego, Villargordo, El Álamo and Juan Antón.
The two trails showcase different landscapes: on the Ruta de los Mineros, the access to the Río Tinto, with its descent and yellow-discoloured rocks, is the focus. The Sendero de las Cuatro Aldeas, by contrast, passes through several types of vegetation and connects four places. This means that both the mining character and the rural sections of the trails remain visible.

Nature
The protected landscape area of Río Tinto has highly acidic waters. They are red in colour. The waters are rich in iron. They are home to microorganisms adapted to extreme habitats. 225 hectares of the protected landscape area of Río Tinto lie within the municipality of El Madroño.
Access to the protected landscape area of Río Tinto is free. From El Madroño, the SE-9200 road leads towards Berrocal. After approximately 700 metres, a track branches off. This track joins the old road from Palomares.
The Encina de los Perros is listed in the inventory of notable trees and groups of trees in Andalusia. The tree is over 16 metres tall. Its crown reaches up to 28.5 metres in diameter. It provides 600 square metres of shade. Access to the Encina de los Perros is restricted. However, the tree can be viewed from the road.
At Cerro del Riscal, there are rock hollows and small caves that presumably served as refuges and shelters in prehistoric times.
The nature destinations therefore also differ in terms of access. The Río Tinto landscape area can be reached via the described road and the branching track, while the Encina de los Perros can be viewed from the road despite restricted access. Rock hollows and small caves shape the local landscape at Cerro del Riscal.

Culture
The Church of San Blas is located on Plaza de la Constitución. The square lies in the centre of El Madroño. San Blas is a single-nave building.
The chapel of Cruz de Arriba is also single-nave and decorated with modern blue-and-white tiles. The chapel of Cruz de Abajo dates from the middle of the 20th century.
