Nature and Activities

The Parque Olivar del Zaudín is a park-like olive ecosystem spanning more than 45 hectares in Tomares. It includes four lagoons as well as a diverse range of animal and plant life.

Numerous birds use the park as a breeding ground and resting area during migration. These include little owls, lesser kestrels and peregrine falcons.

The green Sendero Saludable runs through the Parque Olivar del Zaudín. It is 2.6 kilometres long. It has 28 metres of cumulative positive elevation gain and a medium difficulty level.

The park also has a kiosk bar. The children's play area is directly accessible from the entrance at Calle Rosa de Luxemburgo 64.

The Aula de la Naturaleza is a nature interpretation centre and museum. Its air-conditioned room covers 53 m² and is intended for environmental education, exhibitions and lectures.

The park therefore brings together natural surroundings, birdwatching, a marked trail and environmental education facilities within the same area described above. The four lagoons and the olive ecosystem are located alongside the Sendero Saludable, the kiosk bar and the children's play area accessible from the entrance.

Culture and History

The historic centre of Tomares is pedestrianised. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Belén was built in 1708.

The church has three naves separated by round arches and supported by white marble columns.

The Hacienda Santa Ana was built at the instigation of the Conde-Duque de Olivares in the typical style of an 18th-century hacienda. In Tomares, it is considered the building of greatest architectural and heritage interest.

The Habitación del Agua is located in the garden of the Hacienda Santa Ana. It is a large rectangular, terraced and partially covered pond with several water spouts. The same garden also contains a platform for public outdoor events.

The Hacienda Montefuerte was built in the 17th century as a typical olive-growing estate. Today, it houses the “José Mª Delgado Buiza” municipal library.

The Torre Montefuerte lookout tower is one of Tomares’s most characteristic architectural features.

The Tesoro de Tomares consists of 19 Roman amphorae. They contain 50,000 bronze coins from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD.

Other places include Cañada Rosal, La Puebla De Los Infantes, El Real De La Jara, Pilas, Palomares Del Rio, Coria Del Río, Coripe and Palma Del Rio.

Events and Cuisine

The “Tomares Gourmet” Ruta de la Tapa took place from 20 to 30 November 2025 and was the 13th edition. Over eleven days, visitors could try 31 tapas at 24 local food establishments.

The “Ciudad de Tomares” Flamenco Festival reached its 51st edition in 2026.

In 2026, the Pavías evenings organised by the Hermandad Sacramental began on Fridays and Saturdays at the Jardines del Conde.
